In the car my family and I listen to Christian radio (A.K.A. Jesus music) and books on tape. We also enjoy each other's conversation. I'm from Houston, Texas, USA and am thankful for the Christian radio station KSBJ which I share with you.
I grew up listening to it and my kids love it, too. It warms my heart when they tell me, "Oh, this one's my favorite!" or encourage the other by saying, "Brother, this is the song you LOVE!" I share this because the ministry that I hear happening at KSBJ is Jesus-centered and Good-News-sharing. Check it out if you're in the Houston area (89.3 FM) or anywhere in the world online at www.KSBJ.org. They also have an app! I don't get any sponsorship or money from them. I just think they might encourage you on your faith walk. While I don't always agree with 100% of what they say, I have yet to find the person/ organization I do, I find it to be a good and trustworthy ministry. After all, reading our Bibles and prayerfully discern through all the messages we hear is our responsibility in Christ. I think we can encourage one another in Christ even through our differences. One thing I love about this ministry is that it doesn't have commercials. It's listener supported and they do a once a year big fundraiser for several days and then it's all music or radio-shows all the time, with some nods to sponsors. The focus on the ministry through the music makes a big difference in my opinion. To God be the glory, Sarah Originally written 2016, Updated June 2022

I didn't start listening to Christian music when I was young in the faith, but I wish I had. I enjoy listening to Christian music, especially when the songs are based on scripture and reinforce the word of God, because through music I can learn scripture or get encouraged in a different medium than the written word.
Often I find the Lord nudges my heart through the Christian music I know towards repentance, faith, and trusting him. If you're new to Christian music I wanted to share some of my favorite songs (and singers). Of course I can't recommend every song and album anyone has ever done, but you'll learn to filter and this gives you a start. I'll note there are no Christian hymns on here. I love the hymns. Seems like I need to make another list. Some of my favorite more modern Christian songs are:
I don't link to the songs to respect copyright integrity. You can check out the artist's official page or album. They're worth the listen. To God be the glory, Sarah |
